Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why am I no longer paying my delinquent taxes to my local government?

A. Your local taxing authority has sold your liens to American Tax Funding Servicing, LLC or one of ATFS’ investors. Many local municipalities rely on revenue generated by tax lien sales to fund crucial public services, such as public education, safety services, public health services and public works programs.

Q. What happens to me after my delinquent taxes are assigned to your company?

A. ATFS follows all rules and regulations set by federal, State and local statutes regarding collection practices, noticing, fees and interest calculation upon your delinquent taxes. If allowed by law, after the sale ATFS will send out a “Welcome” notification and other periodic courtesy notices.

Q. How do I obtain payoff information?

A. The majority of accounts should have payoff information available on our online payoff system. If you cannot find your account or should have any questions regarding the payoff figures, please contact our Customer Service Department at (888) 289-8297. We are open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5:30pm EST.

Q. Do you offer any type of payment plans?

A. If local or state statute permits it, absolutely! Dependent upon your account, we may be able to set up an installment Repayment Agreement for your tax debt. We may even be able to set up reoccurring monthly electronic payments with our online payment web portal. Please contact Customer Service to review all your options at (888) 289-8297.

Q. Where do I send payment?

A. The address to remit payment can be located on your payoff statement. If you do not have a payoff statement, please contact Customer Service at (888) 289-8297 to obtain these figures and accurate mailing information.

Q. Who is Ebury (EB1 and EB2)?

A. EB1 EMINY LLC and EB2 EMINY LLC (jointly called Ebury) is a company that has purchased City of Rochester Tax Liens from American Tax Funding Servicing. To contact Ebury directly, please call them at (585) 286-2685.

Q. What about foreclosure?

A. Unfortunately foreclosure is a necessary part of our business. However, ATFS views foreclosure as a last resort. Neither ATFS nor it’s investors earn any profit from foreclosure activities. In fact we typically lose money as a result of foreclosure actions. ATFS vastly prefers to obtain other means to repay the indebtedness even after foreclosure proceedings have been initiated.
